KYPO played a PRS Custom direct into a Mesa Boogie Roadking amp. Channel 1 (Tweed) was used with the volume flat out. (This caused the amps tubes to blow and later had to be replaced) Mesa 2 12 cabinet with v30's was miked with a Rode Classic 2 mic. Direct to Board.

Alex played his Fender Deluxe bass into a Gallien Kruger amp and 4 x 10 cabinet. This was mic'd and also DI'd.

Brendon played the house hit (Unknown) , complimented with his own Meinl Cymbals and snare.

Alex named the tune : PROCRUSTES

PROCRUSTES : was a rogue smith and bandit from Attica who attacked people by stretching them or cutting off their legs, so as to force them to fit the size of an iron bed.

The word "Procrustean" is thus used to describe situations where different lengths or sizes or properties are fitted to an arbitrary standard.

This tune was a combination of two seperate ideas. Initially, Alex had the Verse Bass riff idea, which was hanging around for a short period of time. Kypo was working on some wide pentatonic ideas, and came up with the melody, originally in the Key of D minor, but was transposed to fit over Alex's Bass riff idea in G Minor.

Alex's idea for a B section had a "Santana" kind of latino flavour, which he came up with two styles of tapping on the bass. Each version was used to create a different aesthetic.

Alex was working on some latino sounding riffs in 5/4, and these were incorporated into a C section which where used under the guitar solo.

Due to tube problems with Kypo's Mesa Boogie during the original recording( Upon being serviced one of the tubes was arcing purple!) , the guitar track was re-recorded by KYPO in Jan 2019, using UAD FUCHS plugin. Kypo used his custom made KOA guitar for the final tracks.

The song was written to be a short "single" length styled tune.
